How is a life coach different from a school counselor? While both roles are valuable, they serve different functions. A school counselor is an incredible resource, but they are often responsible for hundreds of students and must focus on academic scheduling, college applications, and immediate school-related issues. A life coach provides a dedicated, one-on-one partnership that extends beyond the school walls. The focus is broader, helping your teen develop core life skills, explore their personal values, and build a strong sense of self that will support them in all areas of life, not just academics.

How involved will I be in my teen's coaching process? We view this as a team effort, and your role is incredibly important. While the content of your teen’s sessions remains confidential to create a space of trust, we maintain open communication with you. You can expect regular updates on their overall progress, the goals they are working toward, and the skills they are building. We’ll also provide you with insights on how you can best support their growth at home, ensuring we are all working together to help your child succeed.

Is youth life coaching covered by insurance? Life coaching is not considered a clinical or medical service, so it is generally not covered by health insurance plans. It’s best to think of coaching as a direct investment in your child’s personal development and future success, similar to investing in tutoring, sports training, or other specialized programs. This investment is focused on equipping them with practical skills and a confident mindset that will serve them for a lifetime.

What happens if my teen and their coach don't connect? The relationship between your teen and their coach is the single most important factor for success, and we take that very seriously. The initial consultation is designed to help determine if it’s a good fit from the start. If, after beginning the process, the connection just isn’t there, we can address it openly. Our ultimate goal is to see your teen thrive, and we are committed to helping you find the right person to support them on their journey.
